Start your seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected spring frost.

Fill seed trays or small pots with a well-draining soil.

Presoak the seeds overnight to improve germination rates. Sow them very shallowly—about 1/16 to 1/8 inch (2mm) deep—and lightly cover them with soil. They need light to germinate, so do not bury them deeply.

Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Place the tray in a warm area around 70°F (21°C). The seeds will typically sprout in 14 to 28 days.

 Once sprouted, place them on a highly sunny windowsill or 3 inches below fluorescent grow lights for 16 hours a day.
