Ixia should be grown in pots with a mixture of sand and peat or in sunny positions in the ground.
Grows best in light, permeable soil.
Ixia tubers are planted from April to May to a depth of 6-8 cm at intervals of 10 cm. It is also possible to plant in spring – in March or April.
Care should be taken to ensure that the soil is never waterlogged. Before flowering, the plants are irrigated and fed with fertilizer once to stimulate flower development. After flowering, watering should be limited. Due to their poor frost resistance, tubers planted in autumn should be covered with mulch material, such as straw or leaves.
In autumn, when the leaves are not yet completely dry, the tubers are dug up and stored in a dry and airy room with a temperature of 10-15°C for the winter.
