Wrap your seed packet in a damp paper towel, seal it inside a plastic bag, and place it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks before sowing.

Start seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before your last spring frost.

Press seeds 1/8 inch deep into a moist, lightweight seed-starting mix. Cover them completely, as delphinium seeds require total darkness to germinate.

Cover the tray with black plastic or a piece of cardboard to block light. Keep the soil temperature around 18°C to 24°C (65°F to 75°F).

Check daily and remove the cover immediately when sprouts appear, usually in 10 to 21 days. Move them under bright grow lights.
